Fundraising
Heckington Community Swimming Pool is completely
dependent on Fund Raising efforts, voluntary
contributions, payments for community swimming and
private pool hires to meet all the ever increasing
operating, utility and maintenance costs. Your
generosity at fundraising events helps to ensure the
pool stays open.
In 2009, successful fundraising events included our pool
open day BBQ, Smartypants Quiz Night and the very
successful Mouse Race evening and Halloween Family
Disco. Many, many thanks to everyone who helped to
organise and run these events and everyone who attended
and gave their support.
Funds raised managed to balance the books for 2009 and
cover the running costs we had incurred, which average
of £250 per week during the season. Being able to cover
these expenses was great, but little was added to the
accounts for future expenditure or for any maintenance
and improvement projects we would like to carry out.
Unfortunately we have gone on to incur huge capitol
expenses at the start of the 2010 season due to the
failure and necessary replacement of both the pump and
gas boiler.
Both have been replaced with temporary financial support
from the Parish Council who agreed to purchase both
items immediately they became needed, if the pool
Committee agreed to pay the Parish Council back interest
free over the next 3 years. This represents an
additional financial commitment of approximately £700
per year 2010, 2011 and 2012.
Therefore, during 2010 we hope to increase our
fundraising efforts by arranging a number of family
events, including a Race Evening, Halloween Family Disco
and a Christmas family party. We are also pursuing grant
applications and sponsorships. But we would very much
welcome any fund raising ideas, inspiration and support
from outside of the Committee and so if you or someone
you know are able to help in any way, are in a position
to make a donation or have some sponsorship or other
fundraising ideas, please contact a member of our
Committee
